Bathroom Renovations

Bathroom renovations may be simple or complex.  One new design element can make a room look updated and new.

When renovating, always consider the design elements that will remain while choosing new selections for a cohesive final design.

Perhaps a new countertop or cabinet or new paint color is all it will take to create a fresh new room.  For more drastic renovations, perhaps new space planning is required with all new fixtures and finishes.

Kitchen Renovations

Kitchen renovations may be simple or complex.  One new design element can make a room look updated and new.

When renovating, always consider the design elements that will remain while choosing new selections for a cohesive final design.

Perhaps a new countertop, focal cabinet or new paint color is all it will take to create a fresh new room.  For more drastic renovations, perhaps new space planning is required with all new cabinetry, flooring and appliances.

Under cabinet lighting is a wonderful way to brighten up a dark work space and add depth to smaller rooms.

When planning your new kitchen give thought to whether you are right handed or left and in which direction you tend to work.  Placing appliances will then be easy to do.

Major Renovations

Renovations involving construction requires thought and planning.  Putting a team together is vital.  Working with area skilled craftpersons allows us to coordinate the details across all levels of design and construction.

This project changed an unfinished walk out basement into a vacation home within a home.  By utilizing unused square footage in the home, we were able to create a stand alone area that offered a full bath, kitchen, and great room for dining, watching TV and playing pool or ping pong.  A pull out sofa adds sleeping space to this fantasy vacation home.

Because we were working in a basement, we had to deal with the home's unsightly mechanicals.  We neatly tucked them away behind customized doors and added a wood working shop for the homeowner.

We created a new front porch for the vacation home by gutting the home's previous garage/mudroom entrance and installing reclaimed barn window sashes and a customized Dutch door, complete with its own front porch light.

The old mudroom's two closets were hidden behind the fantasy porch's siding with one having a back lit window.

The new area's kitchen is compact and efficient and the bathroom is spacious.

Our clients share with us that often times they come home from work on a Friday and never leave their vacation home within their home until Monday rolls around again.

This project changed a front foyer, entrance hall, living room and bathroom into an artistic expression of the client's love of texture, mixed materials and organic shapes.

Both veneered natural round rock and flat tumbled rock were used extensively with tiger wood flooring and stair treads and pine risers, casings and accents.  Log siding and antique roofing slates complete the entrance's log cabin effect.  Porcelain tile continues and compliments the color scheme into the bathroom with the use of one statement piece boulder sink sitting on the custom vanity base.

A mountain home for all of your senses.

Creative Renovations

When a client tells you of his love for the Celtics and needs a floor to finish off the space above his garage, you give him a Boston Garden floor.

Research and ratios were the answer.

We sourced the correct wood species and face width and purchased it in a prefinished wearlayer for a tough surface.   To accomplish this scaled down version of the Celtics' parquet floor we developed a ratio between the Garden's room size and its parquet layout : our clients's room size.

Furniture Renovations

Furniture renovation is the perfect way to make old, new again.  There are several reasons why reupholstering makes good economical sense:  family heirloom, quality frame or favorite soothing rocker at Grandma's house.

Refreshing an upholstered piece will always start with assessing its frame and support foundation.  Sometimes a piece needs new fabric and other times, it only needs help from underneath.

ColorShed can retie 8-way hand tied springs, replace webbing or rebuild apron frames.

If fabric is also needed, ColorShed will help you find the perfect new fabric for the manner in which you will use the piece.  From our extensive fabric library, you can choose from upholstery weight fabrics or the very popular Sunbrella line of fabrics.

Refinishing the piece's wooden accents is also an option.

From start to finish we will guide you through foam, cushion, fabric, trims and stain options.
